Tobias Menzies accidentally reveals ‘The Crown’ Season 3 release date

Tobias Menzies who plays Prince Philip in The Crown may have revealed the show’s release date accidentally. And while it has been a lot of time since Season 2 ended, speculations about the third season had already started.

Menzies had replaced Matt Smith as an older Prince Philip, was chatting to the BBC’s Jo Good when he casually or maybe not so casually dropped the release date.

“We shot season three and that starts in November.” Well, that adds to more exhilaration. The Crown has been on the news for series renewal since months now. And while it isn’t clear if it was an intentional slip-up or not, it remains to be seen if it’s true or not. In addition to Menzies’s slip up, it’s most likely that the series would indeed drop in November. Netflix had announced that the revered show will launch its third season will return in the second half of 2019. That matches Tobias’s time specified.

It was quite an announcement when the show’s new and existing cast was revealed. Set in and centered around Queen Elizabeth, The Crown has been praised for its acting, direction, writing, cinematography, production values. And the relatively accurate historical account of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

Season 3 will flash forward to 1963 and will show Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth. Claire Foy and Matt Smith’s departure from the series has made us even more excited. And while we have a clue about the plot. it remains to the Academy Award winner Colman to depict the Queen.

Emerald Fennell (Call The Midwife) will star as Camilla Parker Bowles, and newcomer Emma Corrin will star as Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales. With this rebooted and additional cast, Season 3 of The Crown has definitely been added to our binge-watch list.
