Actress Kelly McGillis expressed her uncertainty on the question of her return for the sequel of the movie Top Gun
American actress Kelly McGillis played the role of a flight instructor named Charlie Blackwood in the movie Top Gun (1986) alongside actor Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer. Now that the movie is returning after 34 years for a sequel McGillis was questioned on whether or not she would be attending any promotional events of the upcoming movie.
Top Gun is an action drama film that released in 1986 and grossed about $815.5 million, earlier this month the trailer of its sequel which is named as Top Gun: Maverick was debuted by Tom Cruise at the San Diego Comic-Con.
After the release of the trailer, it was confirmed that Tom Cruise is returning along with actor Val Kilmer. However, actress Kelly McGillis will not be returning for the sequel. She was asked if she would be seen at any of the promotional event of Top Gun: Maverick to which she very humbly replied that “ I don’t know how to answer that because one, it hasn’t happened,”
“Two, if and when it did happen, I would have to assess where I am, what I’m doing, what’s going on. I can’t project what I would or wouldn’t do in the future. I have no idea because I don’t know where I’ll be.” she said.
Talking further on the context she added -“Movies are odd things. I don’t really keep in touch with anybody. I think I’ve spoken to a couple of people occasionally, but the truth is, movies are very odd work situations because you have a lot of people who come together from all different parts of the world.”
It is said that actress Jennifer Connelly would be filling the space of Kelly in the upcoming sequel. The movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, as is expected to be released on 17 July 2020.
