The Last of Us Part 2’s upcoming release date has been delayed twice since the announcement in 2016. The sequel of the 2013’s critically acclaimed action-adventure video game The Last of Us has been recently delayed after the massive plot details were leaked online by the hackers.
The multiple reports claimed that the hackers responsible for leaking the details ahead of the game’s official release date gained access to the vital plot details by exploiting Naughty Dog’s previous games. Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment previously assumed that the leaks were uploaded to YouTube by a crooked employee, but later both the companies confirmed that the leakers weren’t associated with the companies in any sense.
Some sources claimed that the game developers validate a twitter user’s explanation regarding how the information got leaked. The user, Pixelbutts reported that the hackers used the vulnerability of The Last of Us’s game code, accessed Naughty Dog’s server, and then downloaded the content.

Warning: Contains The Last of Us Part II Spoilers
Naughty Dog previously confirmed that part II would set after five years from the events of the first game, which was set in the post-apocalyptic United States. The video-game is played in a third-person perspective that contains survival horror elements.
The leak shows the relationship between a 19-year-old Ellie and Dina (Ellie kisses Dina in the E3 2018 trailer. The major revelation is that the player has to switch protagonist roles in midway through the game. The player controls the new character, Abby, and you have to play the game in Abby’s perspective. The main protagonist in the previous game, Joel (who escorted Ellie in The Last of Us), will die along with Jesse. Dina explicitly mentions the death of both Joel and Jesse in a cut-scene.
Abby will kill Joel so that she could complete the revenge of her father as Joel kills Abby’s father in The Last of Us. However, various people who saw the leak claimed that Abby killed Ellie, but it is not confirmed as of now.
Naughty Dog confirmed that the leaks were accurate but assured their fans that the ultimate gaming experience would be worthy. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 on June 19, 2020.
