Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow, returns to the big screen in May 2020 to kick off Marvel’s highly anticipated phase 4. It is being directed by Cate Shortland, who is best known for the Nazi drama lore.
Trailer for black widow
The official trailer is not available online for now. But lucky fans at July’s San Diego comic-con were treated to a viewing of footage and a trailer for the upcoming film. A first look at the movie came through a poster shared on Instagram by Marvel concept artist Andy Park. Black widow will hit theatres on May 1, 2020.
The cast:
Scarlett Johansson is set to return as a Black widow to star in the film. She has played black widow since 2010. Florence Pugh will be playing Natasha’s surrogate sister Yelena Belova while Rachel Weisz has been cast as the leader of the super spy training facility. Also, stranger things’ chief hopper, David Harbour will appear as the red guardian. O-T Fagbenle will also join the film.
The plot and the timeline
The film will take place after Captain America: Civil War, and before Avengers: Infinity War. “They’ve known each other for a while, and there’s a complex history there,” Harbour said of the relationship between Natasha and his character. There is also the Budapest storyline, that’s revealed to dominate the film. We know this from the reel shown at San Diego comic-con. The storyline around the Hungarian capital can be traced back to the first Avenger’s movie. It looks like Agent Romanoff will reveal the much-debated happenings in the city and shed some light on what really went on.
During an interview, Scarlett Johansson said: “I am excited for fans to see the flawed side of her.” “I am looking to wipe out some of that red in my ledger so you guys will be seeing more of that.”
Marvel has also announced that Black Widow’s villain will be a taskmaster.
