Emilia Clarke Reveals Two Brain Surgeries While Filming Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke revealed on Thursday that she survived 2 Life-Threatening aneurysms and brain surgery in the last eight years.

In the article of The New Yorker, a 32-year-old Emilia Clarke who featured as Daenerys Targaryen on “Game of Thrones,” said her health story that “never told” publicly before, that she suffered her first aneurysm in 2011 during a workout with her trainer, when she “felt as though an elastic band were squeezing my brain and she tried to ignore the pain and push through it, but she couldn’t.”

Clarke said to the trainer that “I had to take a break. Somehow, almost crawling, I made it to the locker room. I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill. Meanwhile, the pain — shooting, stabbing, constricting pain — was getting worse. At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged”.

After that, she went to the hospital in London where she was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). a type of stroke caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain and need a “minimally invasive” surgery.

Then she signed for surgery and after three-hour surgery, she spent four days in the ICU. Over the next month, Clarke was hospitalized again and suffered from vision issues, “unbearable” pain and memory loss.

Two years later, Clarke went for a brain scan. the doctors found another aneurysm that required surgery, advised her that “take care of it.” The surgery was expected to be relatively simple, but unfortunately, the procedure failed.

“I had a massive bleed, and the doctors made it plain that my chances of surviving were precarious if they didn’t operate again,” Clarke said. “This time, they needed to access my brain in the old-fashioned way — through my skull.” and she spent a month in the hospital.

She wants to help others by encouraging donations to the charity, “SameYou,” which provides treatment for people recovering from brain injuries.
