The organ transplant from the body of a dead person to a person in need came as a revolution in human history. It brought a solution to the problem which is widespread all around the world. Now, these kinds of transplants are quite normal. Another invention that is catching everyone’s eyes is uterine transplants from a dead donor. This can thoroughly change the life of a woman who somehow lacks reproductive ability.
A Child From First Successful Womb Transplant In USA
The procedure was first successfully used by a hospital in Sweden. It is a country where the surgeons have pioneered in the process of Uterus transplant. And recently, The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio confirmed that they lucratively transplanted a womb from the body of a dead woman in North America. On Tuesday, the hospital announced that the girl was born with the help of procedure in June.
This is not the alone success for the hospital as according to their statement the clinic has done three successful transplants. Though in total five uterus transplants were there, the due date of two women with the new womb is still in wait.
The surgeons from the Ohio clinic are aiming to make these kinds of transplants an ordinary one. On the hospital’s website transplant surgeon Andreas Tzakis in a statement stated that “Through this research, we aim to make these extraordinary events ordinary for the women who choose this option.”
Later he thanked the donor who is the main contributor in the transplant as “We are grateful to the donor. Their generosity allowed our patient’s dream to come true and a new baby to be born.”
Other Examples of The Uterus Transplant
Till now, this transplant has completed around a dozen women’s dreams. In December only we have heard from doctors of Brazil that they made the same successful attempt. The country achieved the success and a woman delivered the first child with a womb of a deceased donor.
